We've been lucky to have many speciality offerings over the last few years in the vicinity of Indonesia; such as Papua New Guinea and East Timor, but only once before have we visited Indonesia, with our recent adventure to Sumatra being immensely popular, so much so, we've decided to make a swift return.

We're proud to introduce, Nola Wonga (anyone else remember THAT TV ad) from the Flores Island, home to the Kelimutu Volcano and just west of East Timor. The farmers group that makes up Nola Wonga was created very recently, in fact, in 2014, by Mr Felix Soba - in an attempt to preserve the organic cultivation of arabica coffee in the region, rather than the more profitable short term crops in the region, such as cabbages and cucumber. What we are seeing from Nola Wonga really is a labour of love due to the fact that is it a lower profit and longer process, however, the success of the plantation is driving more farmers towards speciality coffee and creating further career opportunities on the island.

Generally, we see a lot of Indonesian crop using the wet hulling method (giling basah) to process their coffee (this method involves removing the parchment from the coffee beans while they still have a high moisture content, resulting in a unique flavour profile); however, we've decided to opt for a classic washed process, giving sweet notes of red grape and marmalade throughout - we adore this offering for filter brewing.
